Augusta National Masters Champions Dinner
Every year as spring approaches the weather warms, the azaleas bloom, and the Masters golf tournament is played in my home state of Georgia. The Masters tournament and it's home, Augusta National Golf Course, are firmly rooted in tradtion. One of the most unique and time honored traditions is the Champions Dinner. Each year the previous year's champion chooses the menu for a pre-tournament supper, which is solely attended by Masters champions of years past. It's a special evening that allows many generations of great golfers to tell stories of the past, reminisce about tournaments lost and won, and relax before the pressure cooker competition takes over.
Now for the tie-in with wine. Last night Jordan Spieth, 2015 Masters Champion, hosted his Champions supper and featured a few wines which we have in stock her at Metro Wines. Along with menu consisting of Texas style BBQ, Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon and Cakebread Cellars Chardonnay were served to guests. Both are great examples of the winemaking prowess of California and special treats for anyone who tries them.
So if your a fan of The Masters, a fan of golf, or just a fan of wine come on in and grab one or both of these offerings and drink like a true Masters champ.
