Shipping policy

Shipping, Product Satisfaction and Loss (NSDC) is a marketing website for sales and shipping through Metro Wines, LLC, (MWA) at 169 Charlotte Street in Asheville, NC, 28801. MWA is a licensed wine retailer and wine shipper in The State of North Carolina. Any reference to NSDC necessarily incorporates MWA. All sales and all aspects of the shipping process are processed through MFA. Charges to your credit card will be posted as Metro Wines.

MWA takes orders over the NSDC website and fills those orders by shipping only, pursuant to our Shipping Policy, to retail customers inside North Carolina and outside North Carolina to jurisdictions that allow wine to be shipped inside the borders. You agree to the terms of the Shipping Policy when you make a purchase through the MWA website. In accordance with that Shipping Policy, you accept the risk of loss for wine purchased upon our delivery of your order to our common carrier. Having said that, we will work with you to insure satisfaction with your purchase. MWA ships to retail customers only.

How This Process Works to Insure Your Confidentiality: Only MWA knows who purchased and to what address the purchase will be delivered. MWA buys wines from importers and distributors in North Carolina for the purpose of retail resale to customers inside and outside, to the extent allowed, the borders of North Carolina. Only the common carrier who makes the delivery and secures the recipient’s signature, as required by law to confirm that the recipient is of legal age to accept alcohol, has any information and only that which is necessary to insure your purchase reaches its destination or as required by law to ship. No importer or distributor or any other the person or business knows the identity or location of the purchaser. We do not sell or give your name or any of your information to any parties outside this process. Only MWA knows the identity of the purchaser, what was purchased and the address to which it will be delivered. All aspects of packing and preparation for shipping are handled in house at MWA.

Shipping from MFA: When wines are shipped, MWA acts as your agent to secure shipping via UPS. Shipping laws vary from state to state and are constantly changing. This paragrapgh reflects our understanding and our best information as of the date of posting. WE DO NOT SHIP to the following states: Alabama, Maryland, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Pennsylvania, Utah, and Wisconsin. We package your wine for shipping in approved wine shipping containers, collect payment for shipping from you, and pay your shipping costs to UPS. Shipping charges are based on our cost only for the level of service you have chosen. UPS will require an adult signature for all deliveries. For this reason, we recommend that delivery, if possible, be to your place of employment. UPS will return the package to MWA if signature and age verification fail.

To ensure convenience and to keep your costs down, unless special arrangements are secured with MWA prior to purchase, MWA ships only 6 or 12 bottles. To arrange for a special order and shipment, please contact MWA at 828-575-9525.

Damage During Shipping: MWA has no responsibility for any damage that occurs to your wine once UPS takes possession. MWA has no responsibility for any damage to the wine or wine bottles, including leakage, pushed corks, during trasportation to your location. It is your responsibility to monitor weather conditions along your shipping route, so be sure of shipping conditions before placing an order to ship. If you contact us concerning weather or poor shipping conditions, we will delay shipping if we have not already shipped your wine. If, however, you receive damaged wine, we will work with you to resolve the matter and insure your satisfaction.

Shipping Schedule and Service Levels: Unless otherwise directed, MWA ships by UPS Ground. To minimize risk of wine spending the weekend in a warehouse, we usually ship on Mondays or Tuesdays. If you want your wine to be shipped to arrive at your destiantion on a specific day, it is your responsibility to contact MWA and inform us when you place your order. FOR any special arrangements, such as holding a shipment until a certain date, please contact us prior to purchase at MWA at 828-575-9525.

Minimum Age and Signature Requirements:MWA recognizes and complies with all federal, state and local laws regarding the sale of alcohol to minors.Wine may be sold and delivered only to a person who is at least 21 years old. By virtue of your order with MWA, you represent that you are at least 21 years old. At the time of delivery, any shipment containing an alcohol beverage product will require the signature of an adult possessing valid picture identification issued by a government agency proving he or she is at least 21 years old. AN ADULT SIGNATURE IS REQUIRED BY LAW FOR ALL DELIVERIES! 
If no one is available to receive the package, a subsequent attempt to deliver by the common carrier will be made. We encourage you to use an address where an adult is available during weekday business hours. Please consider using a commercial business address such as your office to assure the fastest delivery time. If subsequent attempts are unsuccessful, your order will be returned to MWA from where it originally shipped. An additional fee will apply to reship undeliverable packages.

Weather Conditions: Weather conditions (temperatures not in range of 50 to 78 degrees F) could adversely affect wine in transit. Where such conditions exist, MWA may recommend a temporary hold on orders shipping to or through affected states. We will contact you to determine if you prefer to accept our recommendation to delay shipping, continue shipping as scheduled or cancel your order. Regardless of your choice, all shipping policies regarding damaged merchandise and limitation of liability remain in force. If your order has already been placed with the common carrier, you must contact the common carrier to discuss your options.

RETURN POLICY FOR RETURNED WINES: We stand behind the quality of all our products and services. We will only accept returns of wine from a customer if the merchandise is defective in quality. If you find your merchandise is defective, please contact us within 30 days of receipt of your order. Once the DEFECTIVE WINE is returned to us, we will inspect the contents and then send out a replacement package to you. Please re-pack the wine and send it to: Metro Wines, 169 Charlotte Street, Asheville, NC 28801. Please note: All returns are subject to a 15% restocking fee.
