Recently I took a road trip through the Mighty Mississippi Delta, my earth homeland. This road trip would prove to be two-fold. I wanted to go back and visit where my family was from since it had been 30 years but I also wanted to intentionally re-visit my food memories. I wanted to re-visit these memories because over the past 3 years I have nurtured a pop-up dining experience called The Clarksdale. This dining experience draws on my memories of the Mississippi Delta, gas station food and roadside diners. I wanted to see how these memories were holding up!
Fast forward… after a two week journey through the Delta I have returned to AVL inspired to create another Clarksdale Pop-Up dining experience and share more stories from The Delta!
As I visited each gas station and roadside restaurant throughout the Delta the common theme was that it was women; it was women in the kitchen, in the front and everywhere you looked. Now don’t get me wrong the men folx were present as well, but it was the women that were PRESENT…this is the memory that I remember most.
I want this dinner to be in honor of those women that cooked for me along my road trip down memory lane and what better way to do that than create a wine dinner during Women’s History Month!
I am really excited to announce that I will be joining Charles Hodge and the Sovereign Remedy Team along with Juniper Cooper from Johnson Brothers-Mutual wines and Metro WIne in creating a 5 Course wine dinner experience celebrating women wine makers and the female chefs of the Mississippi Delta.
The tickets will be $95.
