About: Zinfandel Tasting with Carol Shelton

 

Please join us on Tuesday, June 22nd, 5-6:30 @MetroWines on Charlotte Street to meet the iconic winemaker, Carol Shelton, and taste her wines. At the same time, you will be supporting Mountain Pet Rescue Asheville!

 

Who is Carol Shelton? Carol Shelton has been Mastering the Zen of Zin since 1978. Focusing mostly on her favorite varietal, Carol is a guru of single vineyard Zinfandel. California has been the home of world class Zin for over a century, making it the benchmark varietal of American wine culture.

Carol & Mitch Mackenzie, her husband and business partner, have sought out exceptional vineyards throughout California including Dry Creek Valley, Rockpile, Russian River Valley, Mendocino, and the Cucamonga Valley of Southern California. Many of her vineyard sources are organically grown and decades old. She develops close partnerships with each grower to ensure her wines maintain and express the unique terroir of the vineyard.

 

Carol Shelton has won Winemaker of the Year five times, has countless gold medals for her wines and was named one of eight Pioneer Women Winemakers of Sonoma County in 2005. She continues to win awards and accolades, her 2011 Wild Thing Zinfandel was included in the Wine Spectator’s Top 100 Wines of 2014. With many harvests under her belt and her passion for winemaking still strong, Carol Shelton has become an iconic woman winemaker.

 

And we will be raising funding for foster based Mountain Pet Rescue Asheville (https://www.mountainpetrescueavl.org/). The owners of MetroWines will donate the dollar total of Carol Shelton wines sold to Mountain Pet Rescue Asheville to help continue their good work in the community.
