Learn to Make Pasta!
Monday, 15 August 2022 15:26Ahhhhhh… pasta!! The ultimate comfort food. And making fresh pasta is easy. Let us show you just how easy it can be! Join Ciao Asheville as we team up with Metro Wines and q.b. Cucina for a series of pasta-making classes. We’ll start with a live pasta-making demonstration given by Asheville-based Sarah Ubertaccio of q.b. Cucina. This event will take place on Sunday, September 18, from 12-2pm, at a private local residence in the Beaverdam area with mountain views (address to be provided following registration).
Sarah will demonstrate basic pasta-making techniques and shapes. She’ll also be hosting a pop-up shop at this event where you can purchase pasta-making tools and other Italian wares (check out some of q.b. Cucina’s items here). Metro Wines will offer wine tasting and snacks while Sarah will cover the basics of dough ingredients, kneading, and shaping. She’ll be demonstrating several pasta shapes, including tagliatelle, garganelli, strichetti (farfalle) and sorpresine.
While this is not a hands-on class, it will give you a good introduction to the basics involved in making pasta. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact and ask questions throughout the demo. We’ll follow up the demo with two hands-on pasta making classes under Sarah's guidance taking place on October 16 (Puglia Pasta – Semolina Basics; $65+ tax) and November 13 (Piemonte Pasta – Fresh Egg Basics; $65 + tax).
Hands-on classes will focus on two pasta shapes for each class plus an appropriate sauce pairing. And you’ll get to eat the pasta after you make it! Wine and light snacks will also be included along with Sarah’s pop-up shop. Hands-on class sizes will be limited and demo attendees will have priority sign-up for hands-on classes.
Cost for the demo is $30 + tax which includes the demo, pop-up shop, wine tasting and light snacks. Register online here or by calling Metro Wines at 828-575-9525. Note: This event size is limited so be sure to reserve early. Sign up HERE!
