January Focus Group: All 4 Winners!

L'Alpage Chasselas, Mont sur Rolle, Switzerland 2020, $23

L’Alpage is a custom cuvée selected by Eric Solomon to capture the pure minerality and refreshing qualities of Chasselas grown in specific terroirs along the upper Rhône river banks. This style of Chasselas is a friendly, thirst-quenching wine perfect for after a day of hiking or snowshoeing and always welcome with cave-aged Gruyère, raclette, or fondue. Initially, we launched this cuvée from vineyards in the Valais under the local name Fendant, but with the 2020 vintage, we discovered a plot of Chasselas in the village of Mont-sur-Rolle in La Côte – a singular place with a quintessentially Swiss vista taking in Lac Léman and the Alps.

Art Class in Italy

News Release: Tuesday, December 21, 2021

About: Ciao Asheville Presents Tuscany Workshop Chat and Tasting

Please join Ciao Asheville for our second “Italy Off the Beaten Path” series on Thursday, January 13, at 5:30pm at Metro Wines, 169 Charlotte Street, Asheville. This series is designed to introduce you to the lesser known, smaller, and more intimate places in Italy that offer a wealth of travel experiences.

David Skinner, a local Asheville artist, will present information about Spannocchia, which is in the Tuscan hills just 25 minutes west of Siena. David holds annual painting workshops at the 12th-century estate located there. The estate is also a working organic farm that produces its own wine, olive oil, and salumi. David calls it “a magical setting.”

5 Star Review for Kristen and Lou

Metro Wines recently provided a wine delivery for a work holiday party of over 225 guests. Kristen Calloway was incredible to work with - she offered excellent wine recommendations, provided spot-on quantity recommendations, and was an excellent communicator from start to finish! They delivered the chilled wine directly to our venue the day of the event and were even able to accommodate a last-minute request to pick up ten bags of ice when we found out our caterer wasn't able to supply the amount needed. Thanks so much again to Kristen and the rest of the team at Metro!! I look forward to using Metro again for future events!

December Focus Group Winner

The Asheville Wine Focus Group @MetroWines chose Lorimer Gruner Veltliner for the shop. Turns out, they aren't the only ones who found this wine to offer a great price to quality ratio. The decision was unanimous!

"We did a tasting here and found several wines that we'd never seen elsewhere.

Prices are very reasonable.

Staff will help you find the kind of wines you want, so be sure to ask!"
